Slow week

So this week was pretty normal after last week. I Didn't really do anything till the weekend. During the week i had two labs for class. In them i meet this Aussie guy that was in both my classes and lab groups. He invited me to a poker game on Sat.

Fri
Nothing at all really happened i spent the sitting around doing hw on and off. Then at night we decide to so a photo scavenger hunt in Sydney. This is where you create a list of things to get pictures of and hunt people down to do them. They were finding someone with the same b day as you, someone with the same color clothing, Some to do a hand stand, someone giving you a piggy back ride, then some harder stuff like mooning a bouncer and getting a kiss from a bartender. That was a lot of fun! we had 2.5 hours to do it then had to meet at this bar at a certain time. If you were not there on time you were disqualified. When we were at town hall talking to some people we found this guy and GF just chillin there talking to us. They asked US if they new where anything cool was going on during the weekend of Sydney at bars. They had both just turn 18 this month. That kinda caught us off guard seeing we don't live here they should know better then us.

I had a poker game at 6:30 to get to in North Sydney. It was actually really easy to get to. It was the first time i had crossed the harbor to the north side. This is were all the real people live. i got of the train and it was like a 10 min walk to this kids house. It was actually really easy to find. So i showed up i was early because i had no idea how long it would take me or if public transport would fail me. So we ended playing xbox for a while before everyone showed up. we play like 3 games of poker in all and i did not come out ahead. But it was nice just to be a house and chilling and playing poker and xbox. I stayed the night there because the trains stopped at midnight.

But I got really good news.
Two weeks till Thailand
Three weeks till Kyle comes
and then Dan is coming to visit from July 9th and is going to hit up NZ and Fiji with me. This will be really nice cause by then everyone i know for the most part that is American will be gone and home. No one else decided to use there extra month to hang out in OZ. I am wicked excited about This!!

Visitation starts

Monday

So Sunday night I find out that Luke had been talking to some of the people we knew from Perth. He had people coming form the states this week so his room was filled. Actually three people had people from the states coming and The Perth girls so it was a full house. So he asked if they could stay with me and I said fine. Well that put what I was planing to be a easy week a week full of sight see screwing around and FUN. They got here at noon and we went to visit the rest of the kids at the beach. We get there stuff in the room change and off to Bondi Beach we go. We were only there for a couple of hours and I took a mid day nap in the sun. As the sun set it got a little chilly with the wind so I woke up and we went home. I finished some stuff I need to do for school and then showed them the Sydney Monday night night life.

ST PATRICKS DAY!!
Well they really don't celebrate the good old Irish here. Well the bars and restaurants do but no one else. People don't really wear green, they didn't dye the harbor green they really don't do anything. Well because we are Americans and we celebrate St Patrick's day and we had a bunch of visitors we someone hear of a all you can eat and drink harbor cruise. So everyone signed up. We it left just up the road so we all got ready and went. It was fun it was different to see the harbor at night. They boat was packed and everyone was having a fun time. The Boat dropped us of at ten and we head to a bar with a couple of my friends were at and enjoyed the rest of the night.

Day before my first test!!

I spent a lot of the day studying. It sucked studying by yourself this is really one of the first classes I have had that I haven't studying in a group. This make studying a lot harder. I made it thought and finished everything i had to study. On the way back I saw Luke and the Americans. They were on the way to go see Watchman. I wanted to see is so I said i was IN. Then I found out we were going to see it in IMAX. Well the IMAX here is the biggest I max in the WORLD. The screen was so big even in the back you couldn't see the edges. There were a couple times during fast moving scene I got butterflies in my stomach making it feel just like I was really moving. The movie was really good everything i expected.

Thursday.

TEST DAY!

So I went into the test having no clue what to expect. Hoping I had studied everything I needed to know I got everything out for the test. She comes in a puts the Question up on the board. It is a pratice question EXACTLY. Not the numebrs swtiched or antyhing same everything. I finish felling good. That night its time to celbrate but first beach time. We hoped on the trian and went to the beach. It was sunny and not to warm no nap this time. My vistors wanted to go to Kings cross. This is the red light district of Sydney. The only red light district i have ever heard about is in amsterdam. I was expection what i ahve seen in movies. Bars Strip clubs chicks dancing in windows. Well there were not any strippers in windows or strip clubs that i found. Bars did exist. We were going to a bar called World bar. It was Indie music night and they have mix drinks you buy as a group and share that come in tea pots. We where there for a while intill it got to late and hot to be enjoyable and left.

Friday the Weekend!

I dont have class on friday so really the weekend start Thurs. We woke up early and we guess what went to the beach. We hoped on the fairy and went to Manly beach. We played some frisbee and screwed aroud and then came back tired. I dont know how but the beach actully wears you quite a bit. We then went to a Rugby match. We had to go suport out team at the ANZ staduim at the olypic park. The places holds 83000 people what is funny at 20000 people the place looks dead. Rugby was fun to watch. We celebrated and enjoyed the train ride back with all the fans. It was a routy bunch!

Sat

THE BEACH. So again we got up and this time i did rember to grab the bochee ball set. We went to Coogee beach to meet up with some people we know that live there. It was a really nice beach. It is a three hour walk south of Bondi or a 20 min bus drive. This is the last night of all the vistors the 3:15 PM flight is the man flight back. Everyone for the most part jsut eneds up taking it easy and going to bed earlie.

A normal week

For the first time ever in Australia I think I had a somewhat normal week. I went to school every day and just chilled with the people in the Unilodge. There was no huge outing for me or anything I wouldn't of done at home. I have a lot of stuff to do for school this weekend so I did some hw on sat and today I will finish the rest of it. I did go up to the roof one day to take night photos of what you can see on the roof so i stitched them together for a panoramic.

Although on Friday we did walk around the city. We took Emily's DSLR out and took some pictures. I fell in love with it. I would love to a have a real camera we a lens. It was so much easier to take pictures. We screwed around in the city taken pictures and getting lost in this huge under ground mall. We were just walking around going down hallways after hall way and ended finally coming to the surface two blocks away from where we started. It was really odd being underground so long and having no idea where you were. Luke bought a pair of Sunny's because it didn't have or bring a pair from home. He ended buying the same pair I have but in gloss instead of matte.

Week of rest sort of

For anyone in the states that uses a urinal this is what you have in Australia. There are only little bumps in the wall that are the dividers. You just go and step up and pee. Some of the ones instead of that tile step up are just grates to stand on. There are also these really wierd things out in public that are like pillars. You just walk up and pee in them. This seems really odd but you get use to it. It is really hard to find bathrooms. It is not like america where everywhere has a bathroom that serves food. Even the fast food chains dont have bathrooms. So if you need to go most of the time you stop in a bus or train station or a bar. Sometime you have to walk a long way befor finding one.



This is the first week where I didn't have that much going on for once. I went to class which is becoming more tolerable. I don't hate sitting for 3 hours as much now. Monday we went to the Opera house to see a "Mids Summers Night Dream". It was fun althought the play was kinda of odd. There was no sets or anything. It looked liek you were going to see a concert. All of the people you would assume would be in the pit where on stage. When it came time to speak some of the players would stop playing and then speak. This was a very intersting way of doing it and i have never seen a play like this. The thing lasted for about 2.5 hours. We were in the back and we could see everything going on.
This is a picture I took with my phone from my seat. As you can see the stage is full of the musicans. After the play we walked home and just enjoyed the night air. Which is a lot more doable then the really warm temps in the day.

The week was pretty tame up intill Thursday. We had Ultimite frisbee practice and then when to go eat dinner with the team. After that was the Vegas party held by the Housing at the campus run bar. This was fun but really intersting to see what the rest of the world sees when they hear "VEGAS". For us in the states most of us have been there or atleast see or hear from others. Here it is a long journy that no one really goes to. People were all dressed up. Lots of girls dressed as showgirls and cocktail waitriss out of the 50 and 60 vegas style movies. Some guy had a bunch of tin cans taped to his back draging aroud like a just married car. Which was funny cause that isnt a vegas thing really other then getting married in vegas.

Friday we went to the park to jsut chill. One of the kids had friends coming from down south to visit. So they meet at the train station. We then went and got pizza at broadway for 5 Bux which i still cant get over. Then went and did some sight seeing stuff.

MARDI GRAS

Well most Mardi gras are fun but sydney take a differnt twist on it. They have the largest Gay and Lesbian parade in the world for Mardi Gras. We got there late as usal with any size group. When we got there it was hrad to see but what you did see was very surpising. There were lots of topless girsl in the parade. There were people getting whiped. There was a float pulled by people like horses. It was really a site to see. If the parade wasnt enuff the people coming to it where jsut as outragious. Some people got really dressed up. What is funny is that there are lots of stright people that dress up "gay" just for fun but a lot of people jsut show up in street clothing. This was also the first time I have ever run into rude people here in OZ. Idk if it was teh crowde or just a bunch of tourist or what but there was a lot of rude people out.

Sunday as normal is a day of rest and HW. I hope everyone is having a good time springing forward. We are on daylight saving time till april when we fall back. Also we have decide we are going to Bangkok for easter becasue we have to family to celbrated it with. That should be a very intresting time. This will be the first time I am out of the country that i dont know the launguage. I am actully really ecited about this. I really want to get a hand made suit for like 70 USD like you always hear about.

First week of class

So the first week of class went by fast. It is really odd only to have a class once a week. Everything seem pretty much the same as the states. In my engineering classes we even use the same books I would be using in the states. We had a interesting night on Wednesday. There is this guy that is kinda a bother. He doesn't like American and is a Aussie. I don't know why he live in the Unilodge with us. He is the only Aussie I think I have meet in this place. This place is really full of people that are going to be here only for a short time. Anyways some of us where going out and I was sitting in my room because I had to be up early when I hear a bunch of yelling and load banging. Well this guy had decide that they were being to noisy. He had come down to talk to someone about but with a bat. This guy is a huge knuckle dragger and i think has no friends. I don't think personally they were being any louder then anyone else in the place. The Roof is open to the inside of this building and is always very noisy. Anyways there was a yelling match where he decide to hit the wall to show his brute force. Which didn't matter because first thing is firs and Luke called the cops and reported a threat. At this they guy then left and walked out of sight. He then came back and was yelling again and was pissy about the cop call. The girls then went to report him to the front desk. The police never did come but we haven't seen the guy sense not even in passing.

Friday Manly Beach

Luke and I hoped on the buses well everyone else was in class to grab the ferry over to Manly. We meet up with the Canadians we know and went to the beach. When we got there we played some American football. Well we were playing the teams were uneven so this English guy asked if he could play. We played for a while then got to hot and sweaty. So we went into the water. The water is very calm at manly instead of the really harsh current at Bondi. We got out went and got some lunch and then sat and talked for a while. after sitting we decided to play some frisbee. We played that for a while then the same thing happened with foot ball and we went for a swim. After all that we dried of and went home. We then came back and showered. I am always surprised on how much sand sticks to you body when you are the beach. I scrubbed and scrubbed and finally got it all off well pretty much sanding my legs down. That night we went to a bar on University of Sydney's campus to meet up with some friends. It was nice to be at a bar that only kids are at. That and everything is much cheaper then going downtown.

Same general idea as Friday except much slower going. We had left for manly at 10:20 when we left for Bondi it was a hour and a half wrangling of people. We finally got there and set up camp. Bondi is much more crowed then manly we tried playing frisbee but didn't have room. Some of us then went on a trip to the rocksthe big rock on the left is this

So after that we came back played some cards and then went home. All this time at eh beach and I'm finally getting some color that isn't red. I have been very good about putting tanning lotion on every couple hours as to not burn again. I have gone through a whole tube already. I think I will be lowering the Spf to like 20 or so now that i have some color.

Nothing is going on today other then I have to homework already which I'm not looking forward to. But i am excited because tomorrow i will be going to the opera house and seeing a mids summer night dream.
